Celebrating America's 250th Anniversary
 REVOLUTIONARY AMERICA 1775-1783 MARKER DEDICATION

STONINGTON, Connecticut: August 30, 2025 – The Abigail Hinman Chapter, NSDAR, and Historic Stonington were thrilled to announce the dedication of a Revolutionary America marker at the Stonington Lighthouse on Saturday, August 30, 2025, 250 years to the day of the first British Naval Attack on the Connecticut shores. The chapter co hosted the dedication with Historic Stonington, the Stonington America 250 Committee and the Nathan Hale Branch of the CTSSAR.
The William G. Pomeroy Foundation, a private, philanthropic organization located in Syracuse, New York, committed to supporting the celebration and preservation of community history, partnered with the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution to create a national historic marker program called Revolutionary America 1775-1783. The NSDAR received funding from the Foundation for at least 250 historic markers for sites across the country. The Abigail Hinman Chapter, NSDAR, and Historic Stonington owe the Pomeroy Foundation and the NSDAR our deepest gratitude for awarding us the opportunity to place one of those 250 markers in Stonington. The marker was placed in front of the Stonington Lighthouse across from Stonington harbor and nearby where the British fleet were anchored.
